Activities Coordinator (Cooking Focus)

 

Chailey Heritage Foundation has an exciting new opportunity for Cooking Activities Coordinator to join a unique place to work. The successful candidate will have previous cooking experience and a cullenary passion in any setting and is willing to help our onsite café (GK’s) and cover sessions within Leisure and Skills Centre. 

 

  • LOCATION: Onsite
  • SALARY: £18,720 (30 hrs) / £20,280 (32.5hrs) / £23,088 (37hrs)
  • HOURS: 30 hours- 37 hours per week

What you’ll be doing:

 

The successful candidate will be apart of a vibrant and creative team who specialise in running engaging and innovative activities. You will take the lead on delivering the cooking sessions within the Leisure and Skill Centre, this means you will have the opportunity to come up with and teach different recipes to adults with disabilities, supporting them to try new things and create delicious dishes which they can share with their friends and family. 

  • Plan activities and sessions you will be involved with which could be; cooking, arts/games/ music and other activities club within the leisure and skills centre.
  • Lead on the delivery of our Cooking Session provision
  • Prepare workspaces and equipment in advance of session start times, as well as ensuring workspace is kept tidy at all times.
  • Implement and comply with health and safety procedures, in relation to the equipment used and activities undertaken.
  • Maintain cooking equipment to a high standard and arranging repair / replacement of items promptly when needed.
  • Work in accordance with food hygiene regulations and mandatory training
  • Complete all admin duties associated with the role
  • Prepare information/data required by senior managers for reports/papers
  • Provide different forms in different formats (email, written, verbal)
  • Document and celebrate achievements and activities undertaken by the individuals’ accessing sessions
  • Evaluate event/activity feedback to assess effectiveness/opportunities for improvement

 

What you bring to the table:

 

Essential:

  • Experience creating dishes either in professional or home environment 
  • Previous cooking experience 
  • GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent, in Maths and English
  • Food Hygiene level 2 or willingness to work towards
  • First Aid qualification or willingness to work towards
  • Able to support children and young adults to participate in a range of activities.
  • Highly organised, and able to multi-task.

 

Other useful skills and experience:

  • Experience of working with children and/or adults with special educational needs and complex disabilities
  • Practical experience/understanding of young people with disabilities and barriers and how to apply to arranging activities and events
