Ready to take your first step into a practical, hands-on career?

If you're someone who enjoys figuring out how things work, likes being on your feet, and has a curious, can-do approach — this could be the opportunity you’ve been waiting for.

Whether you've just finished school or are still deciding what’s next after your exams, this role offers the chance to earn while you learn, develop real skills, and work alongside a team that wants to see you succeed.

What you’ll do

As our Maintenance Operative Apprentice, you’ll work as part of our friendly Facilities & Maintenance team — keeping our site safe, welcoming and running smoothly for the children and young people we support.

You’ll help with:

  • Minor repairs across the site — painting, plumbing, joinery, outdoor fixes
  • Using tools and equipment safely (we’ll train you!)
  • Safety checks and emergency equipment inspections
  • Keeping workspaces clean and hazard-free
  • Recording your work clearly and communicating with the team

All while studying towards a Level 2 Property Maintenance Operative Apprenticeship.

What we’ll support you with

  • Minimum 6 hours per week off-the-job training
  • On-site learning with your manager and training provider
  • Help to build your portfolio and prepare for assessment
  • Functional Skills in English and/or Maths (if needed)

No experience is needed — just bring your enthusiasm, curiosity and willingness to learn.

Why join Chailey Heritage Foundation?

We’re a specialist charity supporting children and young people with complex disabilities — and every part of our team plays a role in making their environment feel safe, inclusive, and inspiring.

You’ll be part of a team that values support, growth and purpose — where you’ll learn by doing and be treated like a colleague from day one.
