Salary: £12.54ph

Hours: Full-time and part-time available, term time only.

About the Role

 

Are you compassionate, dedicated, and ready to make a meaningful impact in the lives of young people? We’re seeking a Hygiene Assistant to join our team, supporting the health and personal care needs of pupils with complex neurodisabilities at Chailey Heritage School.

In this role, you’ll provide personal care and welfare support that empowers young people to reach their potential while maintaining dignity and independence. You’ll also support pupils with their personalised care programmes, assisting them in daily tasks and promoting their confidence and self-esteem.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Personal Care & Support: Address the personal hygiene, health, and mobility needs of each pupil, following their individual care programmes.
  • Respect & Dignity: Maintain pupils' dignity by following intimate care protocols and respecting their individuality.
  • Independence Encouragement: Help pupils work towards independence, nurturing their confidence and self-esteem.
  • Health & Safety: Ensure hygiene unit equipment is safe and functional, check stock and PPE availability, and report any issues promptly.
  • Curriculum Support: Assist pupils in achieving their “My next step” targets and provide feedback to teaching staff on their progress.

Skills and Experience:

  • Communication: Strong interpersonal skills, able to connect well with children, young people, and adults.
  • Teamwork: A collaborative team player who can also work independently with initiative.
  • Physical Ability: Comfortable with daily physical tasks, including manual handling.

 

Other useful experience: 

  • Experience providing personal care or working with young people in developing independent skills.
