What you’ll be doing:
The Head of Fundraising oversees all aspects of fundraising, including developing and implementing fundraising strategies, managing donor relationships, and leading a successful and experienced team of fundraising professionals.
Fundraising Strategy
- Work with the Director of Specialist Services & Income (DoSSI) to establish fundraising priorities, setting ambitious and achievable fundraising goals and developing plans to deliver the fundraising strategy
- Implement the annual fundraising plan in line with wider CHF strategic objectives
- Achieve and surpass the fundraising targets and KPIs
- Work with the leadership team and other stakeholders to identify appropriate projects for fundraising and understand any associated risks
Relationship Management
- Develop CHF’s Case for Support, ensuring key messages are communicated effectively to relevant stakeholders and are aligned to CHF’s strategic priorities and ethos.
- Work with the DoSSI to grow a range of commercial income streams
- Develop and manage ongoing relationships with existing and potential donors, including:
- Charitable Trusts and Foundations
- Corporates
- Major donors
- Statutory funding if/where possible
- Represent CHF at events, presentations and meetings to help grow effective relationships with donors, supporters and stakeholders
- Attend networking events
Fundraising operations
- Develop a research function that seeks out new sources of funds, assessing suitability
- Ensure activity meets industry best-practice and complies with all relevant legislation
Leadership and Management
- Line managing a high-performing fundraising team, conducting regular performance reviews, and discussions, and identify opportunities for development
- Build and grow a team of motivated, engaged and active fundraising volunteers
Marketing & Promotion
- Work with the Communication and Marketing team to ensure consistency in literature, press releases etc, and contribute to the marketing strategy for CHF. (This will include, ensuring events are well promoted, you have the appropriate material etc)
Data and Reporting
- Monitor and report on income, expenditure and team performance to the Trustee Fundraising Committee (TFRC)
- Prepare reports and give presentations on fundraising progress to the senior leadership team and trustees and provide regular updates.
What you bring to the table:
Essential:
- GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent, in Maths and English
- Proven track record of successful fundraising in the charity sector, across a variety of income streams
- Line management experience
- Experience in budget management
- Proven experience of developing sponsorship opportunities
- Demonstrates success in building strong long-lasting relationships internally and externally
- Confident in public speaking
- Strong written and verbal skills; able to present, influence and represent the charity to a wide variety of audiences
- Knowledge of fundraising standards and the risks associated with fundraising events and activities
- Able to work confidently with Excel to produce budgets and forecasts
- Flexibility to work at events outside normal office hours, which includes working evenings and weekends when and if necessary
- Passionate about fundraising
Other useful skills and experience:
- A degree or equivalent professional qualification
