Family Liaison Worker

 

Chailey Heritage Foundation has an exciting new opportunity for a Family Liaison Worker to join a unique place to work.

 

  • LOCATION: Onsite (BN8 4EF)
  • SALARY: £26,000 - £28,000 FTE DOE  (£21,075.60 - £22,698.00 pro rata for 30hr week)
  • HOURS: 30 hour week, Monday to Friday (All year), however, we are open to discussion on the working hours/pattern.

What you’ll be doing:

 

You’d be providing crucial support and guidance to new pupils and families going through the stages of referrals, assessment, admissions, transition and tribunals, ensuring all deadlines are met.

 

This would include:

  • Supporting informal visits for potential pupils and new pupil assessments
  • Providing practical support to families of pupils as issues arise e.g. respite, pre/post operatively, transport, family problems, health issues.
  • Working with parents to submit an appeal and run the appeal. [but not representation on the day].
  • Assisting parents/carers to seek out legal support or make an IPSEA referral depending on the circumstances.
  • Liaising with IPSEA (Independent Provider of Special Education Advice) and legal reps throughout the tribunal process.
  • Supporting parents in the participation of the annual review and annual health review system, and other meetings, to ensure they recognise the value and purpose of the meetings to reach positive outcomes.
  • Working closely with Chailey Clinical Services teams to gather the relevant information to support admission, transition and appeal processes.
  • Assisting families with future placement planning and transition process, within the key stages at our school and after school.

 

What you bring to the table:

  • Knowledge relating to the complex needs of the pupils at Chailey Heritage School
  • Good working knowledge of the SEN education, care and health provision and funding streams
  • In depth understanding of the Children & Family Act, SEN Code of Practice and related documents, in particular an EHCP.
  • Understanding of the tribunal processes, time scales and requirements at each stage.
  • Good knowledge of Local Authority functions and processes in relation to children with special needs and disabilities.
  • Proficient in the use of IT platforms and software, particularly Microsoft applications.
  • Responsive, efficient and methodical administration skills and an ability to produce well written and formatted documents.
