What you’ll be doing:
You’ll be promoting the vision, values and core purpose of the school and ensuring that the CHILD curriculum, teaching and learning continue to be judged as outstanding.
Key responsibilities include:
Provide leadership which secures the success and improvement of the school, ensuring high quality education and care for all the pupils
Presenting the school’s performance in mediums appropriate to a range of audiences.
Reviewing key areas of the School Development Plan (SDP) and implementing changes.
Monitor, analyse and evaluate the effectiveness of policies, practices, protocols and priorities
Ensure readiness for Ofsted/Local authority
Work with Assistant Headteachers to assess and enhance the CHILD curriculum and drive teacher professional growth
Devise a facility timetable for learning, rooms, activities and other resources to support the CHILD Curriculum. Support the organisation of class groups and their resourcing.
Develop and embed integrated learning strategies with therapists and other clinical colleagues
Develop, monitor and update the learning strategy for teaching colleagues. Review and revise the learning strategy, to ensure a robust flow from the SEF to the SDP and appraisal to CPD, including systematic review of the impact of learning and INSET
Work closely with Assistant Headteachers to strategically develop links with Learning & Development manager and other senior school leaders to support training development.
Lead on teacher training links with universities.
Support the headteacher to manage colleagues and resources efficiently and effectively in line with the objectives in the School Development Plan and within the school budget.
Ensure pupils, parents/carers and families are informed about learning and teaching, the CHILD curriculum and My Next Steps
Provide line management and support for the Family Liaison Workers
Attend SEND tribunals and represent the Foundation as a witness when required
Identify where CHF may attract new additional pupils and work alongside the Communication Team to ensure literature and media outlets promote CHF effectively.
Ensure each family receives the appropriate support and advice re statement/ EHCPs changes and reviews of placement.
Be the school lead ensuring integrated holistic approach to pupils across the site including CHS, Chailey Residential teams and Chailey Clinical Services
Lead on medicine safety
Manage the everyday health needs of pupils and the systems relating to the effective and efficient management of complex medical, physical, sensory and communication needs

What you bring to the table:
Essential:
Qualified Teacher Status
Degree
Evidence of further professional development
Successful teaching and curriculum experience
Exemplary classroom practitioner
Successful experience in leading and managing colleagues/teams
Knowledge of successful monitoring and assessment
Understanding of the needs of pupils with SLD, PMLD and pupils with profound and multiple barriers to learning.
Ability to use ICT to support the curriculum effectively
Understanding of assessment
Understand the SEND code of Practice and how it relates to ECHPs, annual reviews, admissions and possible tribunals
Ability to represent the school to a variety of audiences including, OFSTED, Local authorities, social services, CCG and SEND Tribunals
Understanding of CPD/Performance Management procedures
Commitment to safeguarding and equality, ensuring that any personal beliefs are not expressed in ways that exploit the position
Other useful skills and experience:
Training in SEN strategies
Experience of working with pupils with SLD and PMLD
Experience of policy development
Understanding of budgets
Understanding of quality in special educational provision and strategies for raising pupil performance
Coaching skills
