Catering Manager

 

Chailey Heritage Foundation has an exciting new opportunity for an experienced Catering Manager to join a unique place to work.

 

  • LOCATION: Onsite, BN8 4EF
  • SALARY: £33,500- £36,500 DOE
  • HOURS: Monday – Friday 37 hours (some evenings and weekends maybe required on occasions)

What you’ll be doing:

 

As the Catering Manager you will oversee all food service operations, ensuring high-quality delivery by managing the team and collaborating with colleagues, focusing on safety, efficiency, and value

 

Catering Strategy

  • Implement an updated catering policy
  • Evolve the catering structure
  • Manage a robust, efficient and streamline procurement process
  • Work with the different teams to develop plans to maximise income

 

Catering Operations

  • Oversee the different teams to ensure the preparation of nutritionally balanced food is to the appropriate framework.

 

Food Quality and Safety

  • Maintain high food quality, presentation, and taste; ensure compliance with safety and hygiene standards; and oversee inventory and procurement

 

Menu Planning and Development

  • Create diverse and appealing menus suitable for the various customer types,  preferences and needs; whilst staying up to date with food trends and dietary requirements.

 

Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with colleagues and suppliers whilst identifying opportunities for upselling or expanding catering services

 

Financial Management

  • Develop and manage catering budgets, controlling costs and developing a robust range of income streams
  • Conduct regular performance reviews
  • Ensure that all mandatory/required training is up to date for all catering colleagues

 

What you bring to the table:

 

Skills and Experience:

Essential:

  • GCSE Grade C or above, or equivalent, in Maths and English
  • Relevant vocational qualifications, such as an NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) in Hospitality, Catering, or Food and Beverage Service.
  • Certifications such as the Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering or the Level 4 Award in Managing Food Safety in Catering
  • Significant experience in catering management or hospitality industry.
  • Proven track record of managing a multifunction catering operation
  • Proven experience of line management and leadership of high performing teams
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and industry best practices
  • Experience of managing budgets effectively
  • Knowledge of catering standards and the risks associated with catering events and activities
  • Proficient in computer applications, including MS Office and catering software
  • Flexibility to work at events outside normal office hours, which includes working evenings and weekends when and if necessary

 

Other useful skills and experience:

  • Healthcare catering or working within a disability setting
